Komi Capsule

Uses / Indications:

• Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

• Peptic and duodenal ulcers

• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

• Erosive esophagitis

• Acid reflux and heartburn

• H. pylori eradication (as part of combination therapy)

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults: 20 mg to 40 mg once daily, usually before a meal

• Duration and dose depend on the medical condition

• Do not chew or crush the capsule — swallow whole with water

• Use as directed by a physician

Mechanism of Action:

Omeprazole works by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system (proton pump) in the gastric parietal cells, reducing gastric acid secretion and allowing healing of acid-related damage in the stomach and esophagus.

Side Effects:

Common:

• Headache

• Nausea

• Diarrhea or constipation

• Abdominal pain

• Flatulence

Rare but Serious:

• Vitamin B12 deficiency (with long-term use)

• Low magnesium levels

• Kidney issues

• Bone fractures (with prolonged use)

• Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)

Precautions:

• Avoid long-term use without medical supervision

• Caution in patients with liver disease or osteoporosis

• Inform your doctor if taking other medications like warfarin, ketoconazole, or clopidogrel

• Not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding without doctor consultation

Storage:

Store in a cool, dry place, below 25°C. Keep away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
